Pigeons always dominated Marc his life. Growin up in Diksmuide (West Flanders) at the age of only 10 years old, Marc started, together with his brother Paul, breeding peacock tails and crossed these with doves. At a certain moment a fur ringed pigeon returned between their birds which fascinated the guys who never saw a ringed pigeon before. That year, this dove flew from Orleans and ranked 7th of some 3000 birds.

Paul and Marc were then already well known in the region and for Paul it was certainly his first steps towards vet; specialization pigeons.
Marc moved to Burcht, (nearby Antwerp) for his job and he restarted with the pigeons. Some local fans populated the lofts. A lot of eggs from a beautiful red yearling, bought from André Vermotte, resulted in two toppers. In Antwerp Union, then the college of the sport was Marc 7x at the first sign in "Gazet Van Antwerpen". One of these eggs was the "Montauban", national long distance ace.
Marc played first on small distances in the local “St. Gillis” with outstanding results also with youngsters. First, third and sixth national championship youngsters and several times national champions long distance.
